St Oliver Plunkett Catholic Primary School is embarking on an ambitious Master Plan, re-imagining our campus to include flexible and innovative teaching and learning spaces.
Excellence in schools does not just happen and independent research confirms that significant educational benefits can be achieved in purpose-built spaces that suit contemporary thinkers. Having more of these classrooms ensures our school maintains our future-focus and that we continue to deliver an excellent and affordable Catholic education.
In addition to the four stages listed below, we are excited to announce that the school and parish have come to an agreement regarding the transfer-of-use of the parish presbytery and Centacare House building. Whilst plans are in development for the Centacare House, a wonderful, new ‘green’ space for our children to spread their wings has been built on the site of the old presbytery.
Updates to our building projects, and images that display our school Masterplan will be available through our School Website, Social Media Accounts and the Parent Portal.
Please find a link below to all new building plans that are hot off the press. The images provide vision around the four stages of building projects.

Building Projects Outlined Below:
Stage One: Early Years Precinct
- Building to be completed for start of 2019 school year.
- Four new purpose-built Year One classrooms and dynamic playspace in undercroft.
Stage Two: Completion of Early Years Precinct
- Undercroft built in with the building of four purpose-built new Prep classrooms.
- Build: 2019 - 2020 occupied
The planning of this precinct has occurred over several years and we are now thrilled that the project has come to fruition. Classrooms have been designed with innovative teaching and learning approaches in mind. This has been completed in consultation with our School Board, our teachers, our architects and experts from Brisbane Catholic Education. We visited several school sites to see for ourselves the exciting opportunities within these collaborative spaces. Our new designs include smaller hubs with break out spaces for group activities and furniture that can be reorganised into different shapes, with walls which open up to additional classroom spaces.
Stage Three: New Administration and Library Resource Hub
- Build: 2020/21 Build - 2021 Occupied
- Demolition of existing Administration Building
- Construction of purpose-built Administration and Library Resource Hub and Learning Space.
Stage Three includes the demolition of our current admin block and the construction of a three-story purpose-built Admin/Staff/Classroom building.
While second and third floors will be dedicated to office and staff professional space, the ground floor (which will sit in alignment with the Upper Quad) is the most exciting space for our students with a purpose-built learning space dedicated to learning opportunities for STEM, robotics and even a green room for multimedia filming and production.
This space will ensure that St Ollie’s remains at the very forefront of learning activities for our students – now and into the future.
Stage Four: The Arts Precinct
- Stage 4: Refurbishment of current Prep Classrooms for teaching space for Specialist Teachers – The Arts, Music and Media Learning. Expansion of current Tuckshop.
- Build: 2021 - 2021 occupied
The final stage of the masterplan, will be the construction of dedicated specialist classrooms (i.e. dedicated Music and Art rooms) and a new, expanded tuckshop area.
The final part to it all is the re-zoning and re-marking of the Beauvardia and Camelia St drop off and pick up zones to ensure the safe and timely drop off and collection of children at the start and end of the day.
