KEY LEARNING AREAS

The curriculum content presented at this school supports a respect for individual differences, encourages personal excellence and promotes in children a desire to learn. The school endeavours to promote the development of thinking and questioning skills so that children may develop as worthwhile members of our society able to visualise, initiate and participate in their future. Christian values are the basis of the school’s curriculum. Subjects taught at St Oliver Plunkett follow the Key Learning Areas set by the Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA), as well as the Queensland Curriculum & Assessment Authority (QCAA), in line with directives from the Brisbane Catholic Education Office. ACARA is the independent authority responsible for the development of the Australian Curriculum, a national assessment program and a national data collection and reporting program that supports 21st century learning for all Australian students.

Subjects are integrated where appropriate. Each teacher plans a C.C.P. (Current Curriculum Program), catering for the needs, interest and talents of student's class, which is discussed with the Principal and updated on a regular basis.
